Climate: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has a desert climate, characterized by pleasantly mild winters and very hot, sunny summers. The hottest months are July and August, when average maximum temperatures reach up to 50 °C (122.0 °F) on the coastal plain.Winter, from November to February, is very mild or pleasantly warm: the maximum temperatures range from 24 °C to 26 °C (76 °F to 80 °F).

Clothing: Lightweight summer clothing is suitable for most of the year, but it is good to carry something slightly warmer for the winter months. You might need some sort of jacket or sweater when visiting hotels or the cinema due to cold air conditioning.

The attitude towards dress in UAE is fairly liberal, a healthy amount of respect for local customs doesn’t go amiss, especially when shopping or sightseeing.

In the evenings, restaurants and clubs usually have a mix of western, Arabic and Asian styles. Ladies are advised to carry a pashmina or a light jacket because of cold air conditioning.

It is recommended that you dress more conservatively during Ramadan.

The name of the currency in United Arab Emirates is the Dirham (AED or Arab Emirate Dirham). Notes come in the denominations of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1,000 dirhams.

In Dubai or any other Emirates the standard voltage is 220 V and the frequency is 50 Hz. One can use their electric appliances in the United Arab Emirates, if the appliance supports standard voltage (220 V). The power plug sockets in UAE are of type G but you will also find the sockets with multiple option which can support type C & D also.

In United Arab Emirates , Islam is the official religion and Arabic is the official language. Having said that English is widely spoken, across the country, though accents and grammar may vary considerably.
